3 Misconceptions about Inclusion

Inclusion, at present, is all about transformation. To truly be part of this movement, we must let go of some of our previous flawed perceptions about inclusion.

 Equality

Inclusion is not a synonym of equality. Inclusion as a transformative process is about equitable experiences.

 Presence

Presence of individuals from diverse backgrounds does not automatically make an organisation inclusive. In order for organisations to demonstrate inclusion, it is important to link presence to participation and achievement for all individuals.

Easing Physical Barriers

Easing physical barriers alone is not enough to make an environment inclusive. Inclusive spaces must also address cultural, linguistic, and social obstacles.
